Parranda Venezuela is a North Texas group of 20 Venezuelans and friends who perform traditional Christmas songs of Venezuela. Members include professional musicians and talented amateurs. A variety of native Venezuelan instruments are used—a cuatro (a small four stringed guitar); tamboras (indigenous drums); conga (drum); furruco (unique Venezuelan drum with a bamboo friction stick); maracas; and charrasca (a ringed metal cylinder). The band is accompanied by lead singers and a lively chorus.
